Hanako, Moonwalk, Paranaque

So my hubby and I recently moved to Merville and to my delight, found out that there are quite a number of hole in the wall restos in the area. Being wannabe-Japanese-freaks that we are, we decided on sampling the food from Hanako, a modest Japanese Restaurant just across the Holy Eucharist Church in Moonwalk.

The interiors were quite nice with just wall pictures of their food offerings and a few tables here and there giving a Zen like less-is-more Japanese feel.

They also have interactive place mats with all kinds of trivia about Japan, basic Nihongo, and a Sudoku puzzle. All of which are quite enough to keep you busy while you wait for the food.

We ordered the Gyoza, Chicken Katsu Curry, Tuna Teriyakidon and 2 Red Iced Teas.

Gyoza - Php 99.00
The Gyoza was superb good. You can really taste the ground pork smothered in a gingery herb mixture in every mouthwatering bite. And the dipping sauce that came with a hint of chili oil complimented the taste and put the deliciousness factor of this simple appetizer a notch level higher. Will definitely order this again!

Tune Teriyakidon - Php 159.00
The Tuna Teriyakidon was also delicious, but a tad bit too sweet for me. Good thing the tuna was cooked just right and the bean sprouts definitely pair well with any Teriyaki dish. Worth trying but will probably order something else on my next visit.
Chicken Katsu Curry - Php 154.00
Hubby ordered the Chicken Katsu Curry and was good enough to let me taste it. The sharp curry taste paired with the deep-fried chicken fillet go really well together. Plus there is just enough chicken to breading ratio which made this one a joy to eat. Just ask the husband, he cleaned this whole bowl in just a few minutes and could not stop raving about it.

The Red Iced teas, (if I remember right is at Php 45.00) which sadly I was not able to take a picture of was reminiscent of cult fave Tokyo Tokyo's Red Iced Tea but not watered down so you taste the iced tea in all its brewed citrus-y glory. And did I say you can go Bottomless on your Iced Tea with just an additional Php 10.00?! Oh yes sirree you can!

Verdict? I will definitely be going back for more! Next time, I'll be sure to try their Sushi Rolls and Tempura and blog about it here.
